first day in london...

18 °C
So far I have learned that the Brits apparently don't believe in public wastebins (where DO these people put their trash?), paper towels, or air conditioning on subway trains. But so far Londoners seem very nice, even though I swear I must be using the wrong word sometimes when I ask for something cuz they give me that confused, sideways head tilt thing. You know the one.
Today it was overcast the whole time, but that pretty much fit my jetlag anyway. Did manage to hit Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and Trafalgar Square, but I am beat. Time to relax for awhile...

There are no public waste bins in london because of the threat of bombs. The IRA would leave bags containing bombs lying around and they were on a timer, if we had waste bins in london it would be perfect place to put one. Hence no bins, less inconspicuous areas for bombs. Although IRA bomb threats aren't so much of a problem now
AS for air-conditioning, the Underground was built so long ago, and the lines are so close to together that they cant fit Air-conditioning systems into the old lines. It is a big problem, especially in summer. TheVictorians didnt think of everything:P
